The majority of human calories comes from seeds, especially from cereals, legumes and nuts. Seeds also provide most cooking oils, many beverages and spices and some important food additives.

Seeds are used to propagate crops such as cereals, legumes and pasture grasses. Particularly in ITL's target markets, a major constraint faced is the inadequacy of the marketing channels to get the seed to poor farmers. Thus the use of farmer-retained seed remains quite common.

ITL's aim is to provide our suppliers with the best quality improved seeds as possible, for maximum output and quality. There are three ways in which we do this:

1. we market improved variety seeds, such as pest and disease resistant seeds, improved yield, quality, responsiveness to inputs.

2. We also listen closely to our markets for best packaging solutions, among which we consider package size, appearance, information for the farmer and best packing materials to maintain of seed quality.

3. We provide extensive after sales service and customer contact to assist in solving problems such as poor seed performance, or for on-farm technical support.

We have many seed depots across Africa testing varieties, buying, treating, bagging and distributing seed to farmers within the same region. ITL also source single growth seed from major producers in Europe for the larger more selective farmers.

We are pleased to receive your enquiry and offer you solutions for your region of production.
